About Us

Freehand Learning is all about getting education right. We know a few things about education. We know students learn best when they’re pushing themselves at the edge of their potential. We know institutions needs books that teachers can use to meet specific needs. And we know publishers need to prove the efficacy of their products.

We know this industry. We’d love to help.

Decades of Passion

We started in education a long time ago. This field is a chance to make people’s lives better through knowledge and training. Knowing that makes it easy to find our motivation.

Dozens

Happy Customers

We’ve enjoyed working both with large publishers as well as with smaller companies and individuals. Regardless, we listen to your needs and then communicate thoughtfully through the project.

Thousands

Completed Projects

From market research to QA-ing new editions, we’ve done it all. We love writing, editing, and managing projects end-to end. We love a good brief, but we can make that too if you’d like.

Millions

Learning Students

We never forget the end goal is helping students learn and achieve their goals. The products we’ve worked on are used by millions around the world. We couldn’t be prouder.

Meet the Team

We’re three passionate, hardworking professionals who “get it” quicker than most.

John Thompson

Jen Neale

Jen has been working in educational publishing for nearly two decades. From her home base in Victoria, Canada, Jen has worked with organizations across Asia, North America and the Middle East. Armed with an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia, Jen is also an award-winning fiction writer.

As lead writer at Freehand Learning, Jen manages larger writing projects. She also leads operations, including contracts and finances.

Jeremy Schaar

Instructional Design & Corporate Materials

Jeremy began his career teaching Business English to professionals in Moscow, Russia. He went on to lead a college department before moving to Korea and getting his MBA at Yonsei University.

At Freehand Learning, Jeremy is focused on needs assessment and mapping objectives to work and materials. He’s also the lead of content creation for corporate learning projects.

We love Technology

From Articulate to Zoom, we’re comfortable with a range of technologies. That includes creating images as well as audio/video assets. Tell us what you need, and we’ll get it done.

And we’re proud of how quick we learn. Indeed, it’s often the difference between early and late. We’re also pretty good teachers, so no worries if you need help training the team.

Finally, our tech-savvy extends beyond navigating LMSs and not needing you to send the password twice. Our systems ensure your data is safe and confidential. And we take advantage of technology to work faster and do a better a job.
